Cyclists given booze charge

SIX cyclists have been charged with riding a bike while drunk in Lothian and Borders, new figures have shown.

The police figures, taken between April last year and March, represent a drop on the same period in the previous year when 11 people were charged with the offence.

The 2010-11 figures also showed that four cyclists were charged with “dangerously” riding a bike in the force area, while seven people were charged with careless or inconsiderate riding.

The figures for these offences during the previous year were two and seven respectively.
