Cyclist rushed to hospital after van smash

A CYCLIST has been rushed to hospital after a crash with a van in Edinburgh.

The 45-year-old man was on his bike on Baileyfield Road, at Seafield, when the accident happened at about 10am today.

Emergency services were called to the scene where they discovered he was conscious and breathing.

He was however taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary after it emerged he was suffering from a head injury. No details have yet been released about the driver of the van or any passengers.

Eye witnesses said there was a big police presence at the crash scene but that traffic was moving steadily in the area.
