Cutting edge compassion

A SUMMIT on compassion in healthcare which took place in Edinburgh shows the city is at the "cutting edge" of the issue, health chiefs have said.

The International Compassionate Care Conference, held by Edinburgh and Napier universities, addressed the individualised needs of particularly elderly patients.

NHS Lothian chief executive James Barbour said: "It was a great event. The discussion and the values that underpinned it were at the cutting edge."
