Curry house hit by blaze

FIRE crews were called to a city centre Indian restaurant to tackle its fourth fire in recent years.

The blaze at the Omar Khayyam restaurant, at the corner of Grosvenor Street and West Maitland Street, started in the basement kitchen.

Fire crews were called to the scene at 8:25pm last night and managed to bring the fire under control quickly.

One eyewitness said: "I didn't see many disgruntled diners standing around."
