Crofters want fast decision

SCOTLAND's community landlords have urged ministers to make a quick decision to approve the country's first hostile land buyout.

A consultation ends today on plans by crofters to take over the 25,000-acre Pairc Estate in Lewis. Owner Barry Lomas claims their right to buy breaches his human rights. Crofters representative David Cameron said: "It is totally unreasonable to expect a community who have correctly followed the legislative process for six years to wait any longer."
