Croatian police reveal gun sale

Croatian police have revealed more than 500 guns turned in after the country's 1991 war were stolen from a police depot and sold on the black market.

Spokesman Krunoslav Borovec said an officer guarding the depot has been charged with embezzlement and may face illegal weapons sale charges.

He said the suspect stole the guns, worth about $5,400, in 2006. They were collected from citizens after a police appeal to hand in weapons left over from the country's war. Two others are suspected of buying the guns. The probe continues.
