Crisps top kids' brand list

Walkers Crisps tops a league table of leading household brands, as voted for by British children.

The research includes McDonald's and Coca-Cola in the top five, while lower down come Haribo, Maltesers, Jaffa Cakes, mobile phones and computer consoles.

Health experts expressed concern that many brands in the top 20 were high-calorie snack or "junk" foods.

Overall, 166 brands were assessed by 4,000 children aged seven to 15 for the Kids Brand Index, compiled for PR Week. Brands were assessed for awareness, how cool youngsters thought they were, and whether or not parents approved of them.x
