Crazy frog: Ambitious amphibian puts on dazzling show of acrobatics

AN UNLUCKY European tree frog that mistook a clothesline for a branch turned trapeze artist as it struggled to tame its strange new habitat and reach more familiar territory.

Amateur photographer Veronika Lenarth, 28, from Miskolc, Hungary, spotted the valiant frog's miniature circus act in her back garden and fetched her camera to record the rare moment.

One picture shows the determined amphibian dangling two metres above the ground while performing a straddle split - a move an Olympic gymnast might find demanding.

Another shows it groping for purchase on another string with one leg.

Ms Lenarth, who eventually rescued the frog after realising it wouldn't make it all the way to the end of the clothesline, said: "These frogs love to climb but not normally such a thin string.

"We thought it had been trying to escape from predators or had jumped to catch some food and ended up in a pickle.

"He made a very heroic struggle that was quite amusing before we decided to lend a hand."
