Crash driver faces charge

A VAN driver from Edinburgh has been charged with careless driving after ploughing his vehicle into a fireplace shop.

The drama happened in the narrow main street of West Linton, Peeblesshire.

The Renault van crossed the carriageway before colliding with the gable wall of the Fireside Shop.

A 55-year-old male was charged with careless driving after the incident on Friday and will be the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal.
