Crane makes a big splash under bridge

GOLIATH, the UK's biggest crane, passed under the Forth bridges today on its way to Rosyth, where it will help assemble Britain's two new aircraft carriers.

The crane, which cost about 12 million and is 68 metres high, left its construction site in Shanghai on December 17 on the deck of a specialist transport vessel.

The two carriers are being built in sections at six ship yards across the UK before being assembled by Babcock at Rosyth.
