Former Rangers owner Craig Whyte could be on the verge of having the electricity cut off at his Highland Castle.

It has been reported that Mr Whyte’s Castle Grant near Granton-on Spey is to have the electrical supply shut off after a large bill has remained outstanding.

The sum of money involved is said to be in five figures.

Mr Whyte has already been given two weeks to pay overdue mortgage payments on the property, which he which he purchased for £720,000 in 2008.

If Whyte fails to repay the arrears owed to Bank of Scotland, he will lose the property.

Meanwhile, an arrest warrant was issued for Mr Whyte after he failed to show up for the trial of two former housekeepers accused of stealing from his estate.

However, in a recent twist, the former Ibrox chief was later spotted in the bar of an Edinburgh hotel. See Also:• Craig Whyte has two weeks to pay for castle
