Court tells paedophile
jail term was deserved

A PAEDOPHILE jailed for abusing a seven-year-old girl more than 25 years ago has been told by appeal judges that his jail term was deserved.

Ian Metcalf, 69, molested and exposed himself to his young victim when he lived in Yorkshire in the 1980s, leaving her “profoundly affected” for the rest of her life.

Metcalf, of Allanfield in Leith, was jailed for a year and nine months at Teesside Crown Court in November last year after pleading guilty to three counts of indecent assault.

Judges at London’s Court of Appeal yesterday rejected a challenge by Metcalf against his sentence, declaring it “entirely appropriate”.
