Court bar on new anti-graft chief

India's Supreme Court has quashed the appointment of a top anti-corruption official for involvement in a palm oil import scam, delivering another blow to premier Manmohan Singh's coalition.

The rejection of PJ Thomas's appointment as central vigilance commissioner comes as Mr Singh's government is mired in a series of scandals, including a $39 billion (24bn) telecoms licensing scam.
