Councils to share costs of training scheme

TWO local authorities are teaming up to host a safety training course - a pioneering move designed to save both councils money.

East Lothian and Midlothian Councils will share initial costs of around 3000 to purchase course materials, with the price per delegate expected to be reduced to around 50 per course as the partnership progresses.

This compares to upwards of 2400 per course if provided externally.

Paul McLennan, East Lothian Council leader, said: "This is what shared services is all about. Councils working well together for the benefit of everyone.

"Well done to the course organisers for bringing this idea forward and to those who successfully completed the first course run in this way."
