Councillors get creative as groups moved to arts HQ

COUNCILLORS have backed plans to relocate nearly a dozen organisations from the old Royal High School to an office in the New Town.

Essential Edinburgh, the International Children's Parliament and EUS Microbeacon are among the groups that will move from the Calton Hill site to the current headquarters of the Scottish Arts Council (SAC), on Manor Place.

It will free up Creative Scotland – the new arts body that will come from the merger of the SAC and Scottish Screen – to set up its new main office at Waverley Gate.

Culture and leisure leader Deidre Brock said: "I am very pleased with this outcome, which will see Creative Scotland placed at the heart of Scotland's capital."
