Council plans homes swoop

MIDLOTHIAN Council is looking to purchase up to 100 new homes in Lasswade, Bonnyrigg and Poltonhall to provide housing for families.

The local authority aims to acquire three and four-bed homes from developers, with work beginning by next March.

Midlothian Council leader Derek Milligan said: "This commitment is a reflection of the council acting to meet demand for accommodation. This also provides an opportunity to help the building industry provide much needed employment in the area."
