Council flats to be built

NINE council homes are to be built on the site of a former Salvation Army hall in Musselburgh at a cost of nearly £1.2 million.

Seven one-bedroom properties and two two-bedroom flats will be developed on North High Street after a contract was awarded to EF Hendrie Property Construction.

Councillor Stuart Currie, cabinet member for housing and community safety, said: "I am delighted that the contract has been awarded and we can look forward to delivering more new council homes for our tenants."

Work is expected to start this month and finish by December.
