Cot death babies remembered

A CLOUD of pink and blue balloons is to be released in memory of victims of cot death.

Five hundred balloons will be released at Musselburgh Community Centre between 2pm and 4pm on October 23.

The event is part of the Scotland-wide launch of 1510 balloons in memory of each of the babies who has suffered cot death in the 25 years since the Scottish Cot Death Trust was established.

Organiser Ann Marie Hollowell, who lost her son Samuel to cot death in February, said: "Losing a child is an unbearable thing, and losing a baby so suddenly and unexpectedly is something that a family never gets over.

"The balloon release has been organised to make sure that the life of each of those babies is remembered, and to remind the public that the Scottish Cot Death Trust urgently needs money to fund research to save lives in the future, and to provide advice to parents on how to reduce the risks of cot death, so that other families may be spared this grief."
