Construction work begins

WORK on a new college and Dobbies Garden Centre has got under way.

Muir Construction, has won an 8.6 million contract from Buccleuch Estates to build a 2300 square metre SVQ College for the Scottish Qualification Authority at Shawfair Park in Edinburgh.

Also under way at Houston Mains in Livingston is a multi-million pound development to create a new 4700sqm Garden World for Dobbies.

The contract also consists of infrastructure works, which will include a road extension and a new roundabout.

Work on the garden centre is due to be completed in next spring.

Business development manager for Inverkeithing-based Muir Construction, Alan Muir, said: "We are delighted to win these major new contracts."
