Conman is jailed after admitting £50,000 fraud

A CONMAN who set up a string of fake companies was jailed yesterday after admitting duping businesses out of almost £50,000.

Christopher Ireland, 29, posed as the managing director of a group of entertainment companies. He conned one family business into supplying him with more than £30,000 worth of office furniture and stationery.

Tayside Police undertook a major investigation and in total he was charged with frauds relating to around £100,000 worth of goods and services.

He was sentenced to a year in prison at Perth Sheriff Court after admitting five fraud charges. The Crown dropped several other charges.
