Concerns growing for Scottish man missing in Germany since Saturday

Concerns are growing for a man who has been missing in Germany since Saturday.

Gareth Hicks, from Forfar, has not been seen since leaving a nightclub in Munich at the weekend.

It is understood the 32-year-old had been with friends at Blitz Nightclub the evening of February 22, but left alone, unexpectedly.

There are concerns for his welfare.

Gareth’s brother Stuart has created a fundraiser on Facebook under #findgareth to raise money to help his family get to Germany.

In the post he said: “I'm raising money because my brother Gareth has gone missing in Munich, he disappeared whilst working there, the fundraiser is to pay for the family’s travel expenses in aiding the ongoing investigation.

“My family urgently need to raise funds to help bring Gareth back home.

“Having travelled there once already we now urgently need your help and empathy to continue our desperate search, please help me find our brother/son/dear friend.

“Your kind donation means the absolute world to me and my family, with your help we will be a step closer to getting Gareth home.”

An appeal has been posted by the Lucie Blackman Trust, a charity which helps British nationals in crisis overseas.

It said: “32-year-old Gareth had been with friends at Blitz Nightclub in Munich, Germany on the night of 22nd February but left, alone, unexpectedly. The last known contact was a social media post at around 3am on Sunday 23rd February. He has not been seen since.
