Concerns grow for safety of missing woman

POLICE are growing increasingly concerned over the safety of a woman who vanished from her home last week without taking her medication.

Audrey Evans was last seen at her home in Fife on Wednesday night and has not been heard from since. Last night police were continuing to search the St Andrews area for the 57-year-old, who has gone for four days without taking her medication.

It followed a search of the local area by officers throughout Friday, aided by personnel from Forth Coastguard, who scoured the Fife coastline for any sightings.

When she was last seen, Evans was wearing a fleece with a pink top underneath, along with jeans and brown shoes.

She wears glasses, is 5ft 3ins in height, has a medium build and short, dark hair which is greying.

Sergeant Kirk Donnelly, who is co-ordinating the search, said the fact she has been without her medication is of concern.

He said: “We have been searching the local area for Mrs Evans since she was reported missing on Thursday morning, but her medical condition and the fact that she has now been missing for some time is giving us genuine concern for her well-being.”

Donnelly said officers have been going door to door in the area where Evans resides but added that there had been no sightings of the missing woman since Wednesday.

He added: “We are continuing to search and have drafted in additional staff with searches of the local area and door-to-door inquiries are being carried out and we are being assisted by other agencies in these searches.

“I would ask anyone who has seen Audrey or who sees someone matching her description, to contact Fife Constabulary on 0845-6005702”.
