Composting experts muck in to support city residents

EDINBURGH residents can receive free, expert advice on home composting this week as part of Compost Awareness Week.

Changeworks Master Composter volunteers will advise on how to start home composting, where to put your compost bin and what to put in it.

They can also arrange to visit your compost bin to check that everything is breaking down well.

Edinburgh-based volunteer Mary Macaulay said: "It is good to talk to others with like interests and to help start new people along the road to caring for our environment. My own garden produce has greatly benefited from my homemade compost."

Master Composters will also be attending a number of local events over the course of the week, which runs until 8 May, including the Parents Like Us Festival on 7-9 May at Leith Links, the family day at the Waste Aware Cabin on 8 May at Seafield Community Recycling Centre, Blackhall Primary School's Eco Fair on 8 May and the Water of Leith Plant Sale on the same day at Lanark Road visitor centre.
