Complaints lead to Asbo for woman

A WOMAN who was accused of supplying alcohol to under 18s and holding loud parties at her home has been hit with an interim Asbo.

Yvonne Horsburgh, 41, was given the order following complaints from neighbours dating back to last year about alcohol-fuelled antisocial behaviour in and around her property.

The order was granted at Haddington Sheriff Court last month.

The terms of the Asbo bans Horsburgh, who lives in Lammermuir Crescent in Haddington, from "playing loud music or hosting excessively noisy parties, supplying alcohol to young people under 18, fighting, shouting or becoming threatening or verbally abusive inside the property, in the garden or neighbouring areas".

It also prohibits her from allowing visitors to her home to do the same.

Councillor Stuart Currie, East Lothian Council's community safety spokesman, said: "We would always prefer to work with the individual and encourage them to change their ways without the need for court action. Sadly, that's not always possible.

"However, experience has shown us that in some cases, interim Asbos can be a useful wake-up call and an effective measure that means we don't have to pursue further legal charges. I hope that this will also be the result here."
