Complaints against energy giants down

Complaints against five of the big six energy suppliers in Scotland have fallen, according to consumer watchdogs.

The latest report on customer complaints revealed British Gas, E.ON, ScottishPower and nPower had all performed better in the last quarter. Scottish & Southern Energy remained at the top of the league table with the least number of complaints and was given a five-star rating by Consumer Focus Scotland, which compiled the report.

Only EDF failed to improve its complaints quota with the number of disgruntled customers going up by 19 per cent. Its poor performance is being blamed on a new billing system.

The biggest improvement was by nPower which saw complaints tumble 26 per cent.
