Community set to clean up in town

A COMMUNITY clean-up of a Lothian town will take place next month.

A number of public-spirited societies have already signed-up to the Tidy Dunbar Day litter pick, including the town's Rotary, Rainbows, Guides and Brownies.

Clean-up co-ordinators are also seeking interest from local sports clubs and schools willing to assist with the effort.

Bags, bibs, litter pick-up tools and gloves will be provided to participants by East Lothian Council.

Areas suggested for attention are John Muir Country Park, Hallhill, Lochend Woods, Lauderdale Park, Dunbar Harbour and East Beach.

"It could make a great difference to the cleanliness of the town," Councillor Paul McLennan said.

It is hoped Tidy Dunbar Day will take place on Sunday, 20 June, from 1pm-5pm

A further meeting to discuss the event will be held on 14 June at 8pm at Hallhill Healthy Living Centre.
