Community News: Volunteers needed for Princes Street collection

Breakthrough Breast Cancer is holding a street collection on Saturday 16 October on Princes Street, and needs volunteers to help raise money on the day.

James Jopling, fundraising manager for Breakthrough in Scotland, said: "We really need help to raise money to keep this work going. The work Breakthrough funds will help save lives."

Mobile speed cameras coming

DRIVERS are advised that mobile speed cameras are set to be in operation from next Monday across the Lothians.

Among the roads targeted will be the A71 Polbeth, A705 East Whitburn, A899 Deer Park, the A706 Cairnie Place at Whitburn, and the A899 Lizzie Bryce.

Modelling agency seeks fresh blood

CITY modelling agency Bright Side is searching for new young models hoping to break into the industry.

The firm offers training and the opportunity to work professionally in modelling.

Bright Side, which was established in the Capital last year, is also official sponsor of Miss Great Britain - Scotland, and also owns off-shoot Bright Side FX, which provides photography and video modelling shoots for clients.

City hotel has high hopes

Hotel Missoni has been shortlisted in two categories at this year's Scottish Licensed Trade News Awards.

The five-star venue is nominated for Hotel of the Year and Style Bar of the Year.

The SLTN Awards will be held on October 21 at the Hilton Glasgow.

PLANS for a massive development of 130 homes, a sports facility, care home and offices have been given the go-ahead.

Forth Bridges Business Park Developments have been given permission to develop a vacant site at Ferrymuir, near South Queensferry.

Showroom poised to get the go-ahead

A NEW car showroom is likely to be built at Newbridge.

Eastern Properties' plans include a showroom, a two-storey office at Edinburgh Road and a valeting building to the south of the site.

In a report for councillors, head of planning John Bury said: "The development is of an appropriate scale and has a modern design and landscaping that is fitting to its location."

A final decision will be made by the council's planning committee.
