AN evening discussing vintage clothing will take place next Thursday in the Central Library with Evening News columnist Lynne McCrossan and staff from Armstrong's vintage clothing stores.

Economists to give views on wishful thinking

Two leading economists will talk about the "Economics of Wishful Thinking" on Monday, less than 48 hours before Chancellor George Osborne reveals the UK coalition's spending cuts.

Professors Danny Blanchflower and David Bell will speak at the seminar organised by the David Hume Institute at the Royal Society of Edinburgh, George Street, at 6pm.

The pair have recently been studying the likely employment and unemployment implications for Scotland from the current economic situation.

Armada's MC sails in for city set

GROOVE Armada's Mike MC will entertain crowds with a DJ set at Edinburgh club Modern Lovers next month.

The event will take place at The GRV on Guthrie Street on November 26, from 11pm-3am. Entry costs 6.

Reawakening in Capital for classic play

TWO Edinburgh drama companies are teaming up for the first time to produce a new version of a successful 19th century play.

Grid Iron and the Traverse Theatre Company will perform a revised version of Frank Wedekind's Spring Awakening.

The production will take to the stage of the Traverse Theatre from November 2-13 from 7.30pm.

Tickets cost 14 (10) while Friday and Saturday showings cost 16 (12).

Recommended age for audiences is over 14.

Making a play to find UK's best gamer

THE search to find the best video gamer in the UK is coming to the Capital.

Nintendo has teamed up with stores GAME and gamestation, and will be holding a heats throughout the country looking for the most talented gamers.

On October 17, gamers in the Capital will have an opportunity to enter the competition at Game on Princes Street, and battle for a place in the final in London on October 23.
