Community News: Event to help people into employment

A ROADSHOW to help get people into employment is being held this Friday in the Capital.

The event will take place in the community education wing of Tynecastle High School from 11am to 2pm.

It is designed to allow people to find out about help with adult literacy, IT courses and healthy eating.

It is organised by the community development division of Stevenson College Edinburgh, which has changed its name from West Edinburgh Action to WEACT.

Head for city college to be pampered

A PAMPERING event will take place tonight at a city college.

Members of the public are being invited to Telford College at its beauty spa and hair studio to sample the treatments on offer by students.

Beauty lecturer Nicola Paterson said: "Not only will we have tasters of the latest treatments, but there will also be refreshments, raffles and discounted products."

The event runs from 5pm to 7.30pm.

Singer's premiere is part of Hispanic Festival

Renowned singer Rafael de Utrera is set to perform the Scottish Premiere of his show, Flamenco Vivo! at The Queen's Hall on Saturday .

The performance has been organised as part of the Hispanic Festival, and will see de Utrera accompanied on stage by his wife, dancer Carmen Lozano, as he sings songs inspired by his love for her. They will be accompanied by a company of musicians.

Dinner marks 175th anniversary

The charity Deaf Action is to host a dinner to mark its 175th anniversary.

The event on November 20 will be held at the Roxburghe Hotel in Charlotte Square, with tickets at 55 for a three course dinner and dance. For tickets contact [email protected]

Chef offers two for one meal

TICKETS for a fundraising meal prepared by a top city chef have been moved to a two-for-one offer.

Historian to open book fair

The 14th Independent Radical Book Fair will take place at the Out of the Blue Drill Hall in Dalmeny Street. The fair opens tomorrow and runs until Sunday.
