A CONFERENCE for university entrepreneurs is to be held in the Capital.

The University of Edinburgh's school of informatics will host the annual European conference for entrepreneurship educators, which gets under way tomorrow.

It is designed to bring together science, business, engineering and design faculties from around the world.

This year's event will focus on design and entrepreneurship.

New drama class for 15-18-year-olds launched

A NEW drama class for 15-18-year-olds will run from September 18 to December 4 at the Southside Community Centre.

Organisers said they have introduced the new class, which will be held alongside the existing groups for 7-10s and 11-14s, after experiencing increased demand for teen drama classes.

Weekly sessions at the 117 Nicholson Street site will cover character development, improvisation, script writing, scene study and general performance skills.

Band needed for NHS awards

NHS Lothian is appealing for a band or cabaret act to perform at an upcoming event.

Health chiefs want entertainment for the second annual staff awards, which recognises the work of staff who go beyond the call of duty.

A FUN day will be held at Tesco in Colinton on September 12 with face-painting, musicians, foodie treats and volunteering opportunities for families.

Thousands of customers are expected to join in with activities and projects between 11am and 4.30pm.

A CONCERT of music inspired by great works of art is to be held in the Capital.

The Rosy Blue Duo will perform at the National Gallery of Scotland in a free event on Thursday, September 16, starting at 6pm.

The band will play jazz and blues music inspired by the Gallery's collection.

Join a trek to Grand Canyon for Marie Curie

A HOSPICE is hoping to bridge its charity funding gap with a trek to the Grand Canyon.

The Marie Curie Hospice is looking for volunteers to join other intrepid trekkers next year.

They are holding a briefing evening and training session on Thursday at the Frogston Road hospice from 6pm.

Community fundraiser Emily Hogg said: "There will be a presentation by Global Adventure Challenge and there will be helpful tips on how to reach your fundraising target."
