Community News: Animation classes set to be popular

ANIMATION classes have been launched by a city charity which helps people with physical disabilities.

ECAS will begin the courses on November 1 and run for 12 weeks.

The organisation said the activity was a good way to boost creative skills and engage socially with others.

Participants will have an opportunity to learn how animations work and create their own piece.

Those interested are encouraged to apply quickly due to a limited number of places.

City charity uses grant to train helpers

A GRANT awarded to a city charity supporting people with ME has resulted in seven volunteers receiving training in complementary therapies.

Edinburgh ME Self-Help was given the cash by the Long Term Conditions Alliance in order to provide better care for sufferers in the city.

Once complete, the project means people will be able to travel to people's homes in the Capital to offer therapies such as Indian head massage.

These new coffee cups won't last forever

AN Edinburgh coffee cup and container manufacturer has become the UK's first ever packaging firm whose entire product range is compostable.

Vegware has released a heat-resistant cutlery, a soup container and lid and an insulated coffee cup.

Founder and managing director Joe Frankel said: "Biodegradable materials do break down naturally over time, but the term compostable means it all happens much quicker - under 180 days in the right conditions."

Monument idea is a bit sketchy

BUDDING artists are being invited to get creative this Saturday by drawing their versions of one of the 64 statuettes on the Scott Monument.

The Central Library will play host to the Scott Monument Big Heids Draw between 10am and 12pm.

Music classes for toddlers

SPECIAL family classes designed to open up the world of music to children are being held in the Capital.

A new Mini Music Makers class has opened in Leith for children aged up to five years old.

The sessions offer a fun way for children to get involved in music.

A SPONSORED fire-walking event is to take place next year for fundraisers with a daring side.
