Community groups seek new people

BROXBURN residents are being urged to come forward to support two vital community groups.

Volunteers are needed to set up a new community council and to support the War Memorial Project.

Community regeneration officer, Laura Machnik, said: "We are looking for volunteers to come forward to set up a community council for Broxburn.

"The town is growing and changing, and it is vital that local people are represented.

"If you are interested in representing your local community with regards to new developments and planning issues, and you can attend a monthly meeting where you will have the opportunity to influence our local community, we would like to hear from you."

Volunteers are also being sought to help organise a dedication ceremony for the new war memorial.

The memorial is expected to be finished by the end of September, with a dedication ceremony planned for October to ensure that the memorial is ready for Armistice Day.

The next meeting of the war memorial group will take place in Uphall Community Centre on 16 June at 6pm.
