Community council set to be honoured in parliament

ONE of the city's oldest community councils is to be honoured by the Scottish Parliament.

Colin Keir, SNP MSP for Edinburgh Western, has proposed a motion to congratulate the Queensferry and District Community Council on reaching its 25th year.

He said: "The Queensferry andDistrict Community Council is an excellent model of how community groups should be run.

"Over the years it has been proactive on a range of issues, most notably on the new Forth crossing.

"It has always been consistent and dedicated, representing the people of Queensferry and the Dalmeny area.

"It has also been successful in attracting young people to take part in discussions that affect their local community.

"I wish the community council a successful 25th year and I hope that its long-standing reputation will continue."
