Community centre gets the go-ahead

Midlothian Council has approved plans for a community centre in Dalkeith.

The single-storey building will be erected on an area of open space in Woodburn between the site of the Dalkeith Miners Club and residential properties on Place Charente.

The new building will include a reception area, break-out area, youth multi-purpose room, an art space, a fitness room and two soft-play areas. The courtyard can also be used for outdoor play.

Councillor Russell Imrie, Chair, Midlothian Council Planning Committee, said: “We promised we would be investing in the Woodburn community.

As this new venture develops, we will make sure we further involve the community of Woodburn as much as possible in the use of their new facilities.”
