Comedy review: Ahir Shah and Alex Maple: One Boy. One Man. Two Comedians

AHIR SHAH AND ALEX MAPLE: ONE BOY. ONE MAN. TWO COMEDIANS ***CLUBWEST @ QUINCENTENARY HALL, THE ROYAL COLLEGE OF SURGEONS (VENUE 112)

UNLESS something goes horribly wrong in the next couple of years, Ahir Shah looks destined to become one of the brightest stars in the British comedy firmament. He may only be 17 years old, but already he's got all the makings of a first-class stand-up. True, he has a slightly annoying tendency to garble his lines, and he could perhaps spend a little less time laughing at his own jokes, but I'm sure he'll knock these bad habits on the head in due course. The main thing is that the fundamentals are there: he's a frighteningly intelligent gagsmith, he can think on his feet and, best of all, he clearly feels 100 per cent at home on stage.

He splits this hour with fellow Londoner Alex Maple, 27. The two work well together, fighting, making up and generally mucking around like a couple of kids on a school trip, but they spend most of the time performing solo. There might be mileage in their slightly shambolic double act, or there might not. Either way, Shah definitely has the talent to survive on the circuit without a chaperone.

Until 25 August. Today 7pm
