Comedy club cracks down on Frankie Boyle touts

THE Stand Comedy Club has launched "an identify and cancel" policy in a bid to curb ticket touting.

Comedian Frankie Boyle's "work in progress" shows at the club this month offer fans a preview of his new material, and tickets are priced 7 and 5.

The low prices are a deliberate move by the Stand to reward its regular customers, but some touts are asking for 100 per ticket online, and as a result furious managers at the Stand have launched their strict policy.

Director Tommy Sheppard said: "We are scouring internet sites daily now and where we identify someone selling tickets at more than face value, we will cancel that person's ticket and refund their credit card.

"Unsuspecting punters should be warned that not only might they be ripped off by touts, but they might well not even get into the gig as the ticket offered will have been invalidated."

More than 20 tickets have already been cancelled.

Mr Sheppard added: "We limited tickets to four per person for these shows and we only advertised that they were happening on our own website to try to stop this happening.

"Sadly, some touts have got round this."
