Florence, best known for starring in the BBC comedy sketch show Burnistoun, had been in BOX Glasgow, a venue on Sauchiehall Street on Thursday night.

But the comic tweeted just before 9am: “Oh sh*t”, following up with a picture of a darkened bathroom.

The Mock the Week writer then sent a series of tweets, documenting his surprise.

He tweeted: “Oh f**k. I fell asleep in the toilets of a pub in Glasgow called The Box. And it’s like 9am and music playing and is it a ghost? And will I get arrested?”

He then asked his followers: “Hold on. Will I get the jail for this?”

Eventually, Florence left the toilets after telling his 40,000 followers that he could hear someone in the pub.

The comedian posted a series of photos, including one of the toilet cubicle he slept in and one with a Box worker named Cheryl, who Florence said had ‘saved’ him.
