Colombian teacher ‘stole pupil’s Panini stickers’

A TEACHER in South America has been accused of pilfering their pupils’ Panini stickers in an attempt to fill their own Brazil 2014 album.

El Espectador, a Colombian newspaper, is reporting that a 13-year-old student at a Bucaramanga school had their collection of football stickers confiscated by a teacher after they were caught swapping their ‘doublers’ in class.

However, the student later caught the same teacher adding the stickers to their own album in the school’s staff room.

A woman, who has children at the school, told a local radio station: “It’s no way to give an example to young ones, taking their stickers away for your own benefit.”

Sticker-collecting in South America is an extremely popular pastime, with collectors of all ages regularly attending organised meetings to exchange stickers.

In Brazil alone, sales are expected to top eight million.

Last month, sources in Rio de Janeiro reported that over 300,000 Panini stickers had gone missing after a delivery van was stolen by thieves.

And prior to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, more than 130,000 sticker packets were stolen from a distribution centre in Sao Paulo.
