College orchestra prepares to take a bow

MUSICIANS are being sought to join Stevenson College's first community orchestra.

The new Stevenson Symphony Orchestra is looking for woodwind, brass, percussion and string musicians. The orchestra aims to be part of the community, with its musicians also getting the opportunity to perform and write music.

It is being led by prominent violinist Hector Scott, who started his career at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama before going to Switzerland and Boston. He said: "I am really excited to be involved in this new orchestra. The Stevenson Symphony Orchestra will be something special within Edinburgh, driven by skill, enthusiasm and passion."

Tommy Fowler, composer and music lecturer at Stevenson College, added: "This is a very exciting project for Stevenson."
