College needs new principal

THE job of principal at Edinburgh College of Art is being advertised following the announcement that the current holder of the post will retire the day before the college merges with Edinburgh University.

Professor Ian Howard is stepping down ahead of the change on August 1, which will see the two institutions come together to create a new Edinburgh College of Art at the university.

The merger was approved in January by Education Secretary Michael Russell.
