College lands top employer award for training initiative

WEST Lothian College has been named employer of the year by the Scottish Training Federation.

The annual award is in recognition of an 110,000 investment made by the college on development initiatives for staff.

The continuing professional development (CPD) initiatives are decided every six months at a review with a line manager to discuss staff members' career aspirations.

Brian Wilson, assistant principal of business and enterprise at the college, said: "This is a major achievement for West Lothian College and for staff who completed their CPD initiatives.

"We recognise that supporting staff with training and development allows our staff to be more confident and in turn benefits the students.

"The knowledge and skills will also provide them with qualifications for progression."
