Labour councillor Cammy Day has submitted a motion for Thursday's meeting of the full council, calling for the council to recognise the achievements in "an appropriate manner as seen fit by the Lord Provost".

In his motion, Cllr Day said: "Beacon Awards provide national recognition for excellence and innovation, as well as acknowledging the talents of staff at all levels.

"The college was particularly praised for its trans-national educational partnerships, which include support for in-country teaching, leading to high numbers of students progressing on to courses in the UK."
