College and garden centre work begins

WORK on a new college and Dobbies Garden Centre has got under way.

Muir Construction, has won an 8.6 million contract from Buccleuch Estates to build a 2,300 sqm SVQ College for the Scottish Qualification Authority at Shawfair Park in Edinburgh.

Also under way at Houston Mains in Livingston is a multi-million pound development to create a new 4,700 sqm Garden World for Dobbies.

The contract also consists of infrastructure works, which will include a road extension and a new roundabout.

The infrastructure works will be jointly carried out by Dobbies and the Muir Group's development arm Hermiston Securities.

The garden centre is due to be completed in next Spring.
