Colin Montgomerie drives his runners on

CHAMPION golfer Colin Montgomerie cheers on some of the first runners to sign up to the Bupa Great Edinburgh Run.

Monty met Euan McIntyre, Allison Brodie and Kenny Craigie, three of his fans who answered his call to run the 10k, to be held on 2 May, in support of the Elizabeth Montgomerie Foundation.

Monty established the cancer charity in memory of his mother, who died in 1991.

The 2010 Bupa Great Edinburgh Run has a new home at Holyrood Park, and is suitable for runners of all abilities aged over 15.
