Cockerel found ‘waiting’ for bus in Kincardinshire

A COCKEREL found ‘waiting’ for a bus in Kincardinshire has been handed into a rescue charity.

The bird, thought to be a Light Sussex, was spotted by a passer-by at bus stop in Maryculter, on Lower Deeside.

He was taken to the SSPCA’s animal rescue centre in nearby Drumoak, also on Deeside.

Staff at the centre have named him Decker.

Rescue centre manager Graeme Innes said: “He didn’t have a bus pass so it’s lucky a kind passer by stopped and gave him a lift to our centre. He’s a handsome chap.

“We don’t know how he came to be there. It’s possible he has strayed from home or he could have been abandoned.

“Although he appears confident, he can be a little nervous and isn’t used to being handled. He does like to show off in front of all the females though.

“He will require a safe area to explore during the day and a secure place to stay overnight. We think he would enjoy a place in the countryside.
