Close shave for Dutch drivers

The Dutch vehicle registration authority has said a computer glitch led to about 100 cars being assigned licence plates that included the letters NSB - the acronym for a defunct political party reviled for its Second World War collaboration with the Nazis.

A State Traffic Service spokesman said the blunder was quickly spotted and no cars were actually fitted with the NSB plates, though one person complained about being issued registration documents over the weekend including the letters NSB.

A new rule came into force last year banning political acronyms from Dutch licence plates.
