Climber missing in Glencoe

A RESCUE operation was under way last night for a climber who fell on a Scottish mountain where four others died less than two months ago.

Members of the Glencoe Mountain Rescue were searching for the climber on Bidean Nam Bian in Glencoe. Northern Constabulary said the accident was reported at about 3:20pm yesterday.

On 19 January, four climbers died on the 3773ft Bidean Nam Bian having being caught in an avalanche.

Walkers and climbers have been warned to expect wintery conditions in the hills and mountains this weekend.

The Sportscotland Avalanche Information Service has highlighted the return of wintry weather following a recent spell of sun, warmer temperatures and little wind.
