Climber killed in Kintail fall

A MAN has died after falling “some distance” while climbing in the Highlands, police have said.

Emergency services were alerted to the accident on Saturday evening on the hills above the Cluanie Inn, in the Kintail area.

Northern Constabulary said Kintail mountain rescue team and search and rescue dogs joined police and a rescue helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth in a search which lasted several hours.

The climber, who has not been named, was eventually discovered and found to have suffered fatal injuries. The man’s next of kin have been informed.
