Claire Balding gets the all-clear

BBC sports presenter Clare Balding has spoken of her relief after learning she requires no more treatment after suffering from cancer.

Ms Balding, 39, had been receiving treatment for thyroid cancer since 2009.

Speaking yesterday, she said doctors had given her the all-clear following an operation last month.

She said: "I had to have an operation just before Christmas to take out a nasty lymph node and there was a worry that I might have to have more treatment.

"But I had a lovely letter from my oncologist just after Christmas saying, 'Hurrah, no more treatment', so I'm very happy about that."
