City pub goes carbon neutral

PUBS and clubs in the Capital have been smoke-free since 2006 but one city centre hostelry is going the extra mile by bidding to become 100 per cent carbon neutral.

Owner of The Mercat Bar and Restaurant Graham Blaikie has arranged to have 16 trees planted in a Perthshire woodland to cancel out his premises' carbon footprint.

He said: "I'll be doing this every year."
